15 IT companies from Pakistan exhibiting at GITEX Dubai 2005

Led by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), fifteen IT companies from Pakistan will set up especially customized stalls to showcase their products in this mega-event, which takes place in Dubai from 25 - 29 September 2005.

Mr. Waqar Butt, Director International Marketing of PSEB said, 'GITEX Dubai is the most important event in our international trade shows itinerary. More companies from Pakistan want to attend GITEX than any other event. And the companies are always happy to be here because of the business they are able to generate. I am looking forward to another great event.'

The main Pakistan pavilion will be located at the Sheikh Zayed Hall # 8, Stands R8 & F8-2. Other companies from Pakistan will be in the extensions of Halls 1 and 6.

The companies from Pakistan specialize in an array of IT products and services. Their expertise includes turnkey information systems development and integration, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), online banking systems, and financial information systems.

One of the companies participating in the event is Alchemy Associates which has developed a unique Risk Management solution for the banking sector. Alchemy is one of the few companies in the region that is helping banks and financial institutions with implementation of Basel II. Other companies include Mixit Inc whose Real Trader system is already running on the floor of the New York, Chicago and Philadelphia Stock Exchanges and Buraq Integrated Solutions, a company which is introducing its document management system for the first time at Gitex Dubai. E-Creatorz; Elixir Technologies; Pearl Consulting (Pvt) Limited; Softech Micro Systems; System Innovations (Pvt) Limited (Si3); TPS Pakistan (Pvt) Limited; Wistech Solutions and Wiz Links are amongst the other participating companies. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) which is taking part in Gitex Dubai 2005 for the first time, will be showcasing its state-of-the-art Machine Readable Passports (MRP) system and biometric security solutions. NADRA is the largest IT company in Pakistan with over 12,000 employees. Oyster Technologies will be exhibiting blank CDs that are manufactured in Pakistan.

Pakistan's IT industry has grown substantially during the past few years, achieving an annual increase of 50% in IT exports during the fiscal year 2004-2005. It employs over 8000 quality professionals for traditional software houses, system integrators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), multinationals, and IT-enabled services. Within the government, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) facilitates the Pakistani IT and ITeS industry by providing valuable networking opportunities for the business and entrepreneurial community to participate in national and international events, road shows and investment seminars. PASHA is the only trade industry association in the country and has been increasingly responsible for building private sector relationships by forging alliances with IT industry associations in other countries within the Asia Pacific region.
