Rana Eid has taken up the post giving the company its first direct physical presence in Lebanon.

Responsible for the company's distribution operations in Lebanon and Jordan, the Lebanese national works closely with Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Levantine reseller network, comprising leading channel players APTEC, Hiperdist and GCE. She is now charged with delivering double-digit markets share growth in both markets over the coming year.

'With this new appointment we hope to increase share of the Lebanese lap top market by a further 10% which would make us the market leader,' said Farid Sabbagh, Director SME and Channel Middle East, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

'We are looking to build on our success in Lebanon in Q2 of this year when our mobility units recorded a 30% market share, outperforming the competition.

'The two markets differ from each other with some 70% of our business in Lebanon coming from the private sector and 80% of Jordanian sales stemming from government contracts.'

Eid joins from APTEC Lebanon, where for three-and-a-half years she was Fujitsu Siemens Computers' product manager.

Her rich I.T. career also includes posts with Beirut-based software and solution providers, where she specialised in the SME sector, and was heavily involved in big projects involving universities and hospitals.

Eid has a BSC and Executive MBA in Business Computers from Lebanon's St. Joseph University and speaks English, French, Spanish and Arabic.
