DCCI promotes Dubai in India

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry DCCI participated in the road shows that took place in 5 Indian cities between 11 and 16 of September.

The road shows aimed to promote Dubai as a tourism and commercial destination by demonstrating the commercial opportunities available.

Sultan Majed Lootah the manager of business promotion in DCCI who participated in the road shows in India said: "Our aim from this participation is to demonstrate the available opportunities for investment in Dubai and to promote the business sectors to attract investers."

The road shows were a great success, and covered five of the largest Indian cities which are New Delhi the capital, Mumbai the trading port of India, Bangalore the center of the IT industry, Hyderabad and Chinay. A large number of attendees including, investors, potential traders and officials of government authorities and establishments attended the road shows.

During the road shows the DCCI promoted the UAE's third trade Exhibition in India that will take place in Mumbai during December 2005. The exhibition is at the preparation stage and is expected to gather a large number of participants.

India is one of the major trading partners of Dubai; the statistics show that the total non oil bilateral trade between Dubai and India in 2004 reached 31.4 billions Dirham, which equal 8.5 billion US Dollars. Dubai exports reached 2.1 billion Dirhams and India is the first destination of Dubai exports. The re exports reached 11.6 billion Dirham and the imports 17.6 billions Dirham. The Indian contribution in Dubai foreign non oil trade reached 14.5% of total Dubai trade.
