The 3rd annual event has attracted participation from medical technology suppliers and manufacturers from around the globe, including Australia, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Bangladesh, Hungary, India, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The four-day event, which will showcase, medical equipment, hospital supplies and instruments, has grown larger this year, in view of the high growth in medical technology witnessed across the MENA region.

'Leading manufacturers and suppliers targetting the booming MENA region regard Meditech as the premier platform for networking with the key regional players from the medical field,' said Ahmed Ghozzi, Chairman of ACG-ITF, the show organizers. 'The record number of participants in MEDITECH 2005 is a reflection on the huge potential this region offers for the medical technology industry.'

'The Egyptian medical equipment sector is poised for further growth boosted by the government's five-year programme of upgrading medical facilities. The Ministry of Health and Population has undertaken an ambitious Health Sector Reform Programme (HSRP) to modernise the nation's health system in response to domestic calls for improving health services for Egypt's 71 million plus civilians. In addition, the private sector players engaged in the medical field are upgrading their facilities to cater to the growing demand,' added Ghozzi.

Meditech 2005, to be held from September 22 to 25, is a premier exhibition for medical technology and implements. Its scope has been widened to include additional medical sectors in response to the area's requirements. The show is expected to witness a substantial increase in trade visitors and exhibitors this year, thus providing an ideal platform to serve the strategic health modernization plans in Egypt and the region.

'In the world of fast-changing technology, the medical field is in a constant state of change, as more innovative technology is being adopted to create better and more effective solutions,' added Ghozzi. 'MEDITECH brings together players from all over the world, enabling regional medical institutions and professionals to watch at first hand the new developments and upgrade medical facilities in the region.'

One of the focus areas of the show will be Telemedicine which allows access to remote medical expertise via satellite, an area that is becoming increasingly common around the world. Telemedical systems, equipped with special diagnostic and communication equipment, will on display at the exhibition. Also on view will be new equipment for testing HIV/AIDS cases. The show will also highlight medical issues of special concern to the region through seminars and medical symposiums.
