Business Continuity systems save millions of dollars in lost company revenues
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, September 22 - 2005 at 16:31
- PRESS RELEASE
eHosting DataFort (EHDF), the subsidiary of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone and a member of Dubai Holding, will use its presence at Gitex 2005, to emphasise to its visitors the benefits of having professionally-planned Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) plans in place and how eHosting DataFort services can help in achieving this strategic objective.
EHDF's DR and BC clients are able to cope with disasters that can occur at any time and in any shape or form. This can be as localised as a burst pipe disrupting an office to lost keys to full mains blackouts across a city, such as recently occurred in Dubai. Business continuity (BC) plans help firms to continue running their usual operations, even during and after a disaster, so that no revenue stream is lost. Even if a company's website is down for a few minutes, the damage to the business' revenue stream can be significant.
"Companies often underestimate the losses incurred when systems go down after a disaster. You have to include and anticipate all kinds of business losses; not just visible cash losses, such as lost employee working hours or transactions that could have taken place but didn't because the website wasn't up. In addition, there's the brand deterioration; if the website is continually unavailable, the customers just simply won't come back. It can all add up, in a few minutes or hours, to literally millions of dollars," says Dr Saeed Al Barwani, CEO of EHDF.
"Since the terrible events of 9-11, the demand for business continuity solutions has dramatically increased. Add to this the fact that more business is done online than ever before, and it's easy to see why Business Continuity is really hot at the moment. A successful BC strategy is properly in place when a customer has determined the potential impact of disasters on that company and has taken the steps to avoid the potential loss," says Dr Al Barwani.
EHDF offers a complete portfolio of managed hosting and IT security consulting services that enable and fortify a company's ICT infrastructure. Specific services offered include: Fully managed or semi-managed hosting, managed security, hosted email, managed infrastructure services- Co-location, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, Policy design and review, as well as hosting as well as disaster recovery and business continuity consulting services and solutions.
The company offers a range of solutions to ensure the safety of business data in the event of disaster, including data redirection services, continual data back up solutions and physical office relocation.
