Fujitsu Siemens launches innovative digital home concept
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, September 24 - 2005 at 13:10
- PRESS RELEASE
Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT manufacturer, is to launch its innovative all-in-one multimedia solution, Digital Home, at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) - one of the world's top three technology shows.
"Home digitisation is inevitable as customers are becomingly increasingly technology savvy and companies are converging typical PC and consumer electronics technology, creating a uniformed operating household," said Paul Gamboa, Sales Manager - Consumer, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
"Our Digital Home takes users into a world of seamless integrated entertainment, communications productivity and home control by giving them cutting-edge, easy, high quality and reliable products, services and solutions."
With Fujitsu Siemens Computers' specially-designed SCALEO multimedia PC range, users can access the internet, play music, record and pause live television, store files, pictures and download Video On Demand (VoD) - a ground-breaking concept which delivers real-time video retrieval.
"The previously separate worlds of TV, Hi-FI, internet and telephone now all speak the same digital language," said Gamboa. "Our best-in-class devices make the most of the latest home technologies and our innovation and networking expertise takes entertainment to a fascinating new level."
Built around a high-spec DVD player, the SCALEO range, which comes in six different models to meet customers' individual requirements, eliminates the need for multiple devices and, through its PC functionality and networking features, it can be integrated into any wired or wireless home network.
"The possibilities of this concept are endless as we continue to fuse together essential home technologies into one," added Gamboa. "In the near future, LCD televisions will include the latest PC technology for seamless integration and video rental shops will allow on-line access to films."
The Digital Home portfolio to be showcased at GITEX includes a SCALEO E in an attractive silver housing for the living room, a new ACTIVY Media Player and the new MYRICA Media TV, an LCD TV with networking functionality.
"We benefit from our many years of experience as an IT manufacturer, because Digital Home entertainment is based primarily on networking and integration, which are our core competencies," said Gamboa. "Our new devices are not only easy to operate and integrate into a home network, they also deliver top-notch quality for television, music and video."
The issue of security has also been tackled. Whilst everyone in the house can access the system at all times, Digital Home components utilise Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) technology, developed for major corporations, to guard against outside intruders and data corruption.
In response to the growing importance in residential applications of a centralized, fail-safe data storage system, Fujitsu Siemens computers will shortly be unveiling the Storagebird LAN, a system on which audio, video and pictures can be easily stored and distributed to different residents in the home.
