The CIO conference sees the Chief Information Officers (CIO) of some of the Middle East's leading government and corporate entities converging in Dubai's Park Hyatt Hotel just before the GITEX 2005 exhibition.

"The CIO conference is a two-day event that aims to share best practices, case studies and visionary technologies, such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with top IBM customers in the Middle East region. We've brought together a really strong executive team from IBM's EMEA and worldwide operations so that we are able to share some strong viewpoints and present a truly strategic forward path with the Middle East's leading technology users," said Takreem El-Tohamy, general manager of IBM Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.

The IBM Middle East CIO conference is focused on sharing future technology strategies, including emerging standards-based technologies such as SOA , a way of viewing business processes as a set of linked services and an approach that uses open standards to make a company's business operations more efficient, effective and collaborative.

The conference will help CIOs map the technical aspects of On Demand computing to their business environments and needs, including focus on application development and business technology strategies for driving fast-reacting, flexible technology that support business needs and challenges.

CIOs will see demonstrations on SOA implementations in the Middle East and debate around questions facing today's technology users with regards to open system environments such as Linux, wireless solutions and new server technologies that enable on demand.

"The IBM Middle East CIO Conference case studies represent some really advanced, pioneering work by some of the region's leading corporate and government entities. We're hoping that the mixture of future vision and unique technology deployments will inspire and challenge our audience at the conference, and drive some strong debate during the panel and Q&A sessions," continued El-Tohamy. "IBM has invested significantly to ensure that the conference is an event where enterprise technology users can truly find answers to their strategic questions."
