UNB sponsored students Seminar

Union National Bank (UNB) conducted a seminar for the Bank's sponsored local students at its Training Centre in Abu Dhabi.

On an annual basis Union National Bank offers support to local students by offering them the opportunity to work while studying through a sponsorship programme. This programme, which is a paying job with a difference, enables students to work on Thursdays throughout the year as well as for a month during their summer holidays.

This sponsorship continues untill the selected students graduate. In addition, these students have a priority option to be recruited in the bank after completing their studies.

The purpose of the seminar was to interact with the sponsored students and to receive their feedback on their on the job training and to establish action plans to monitor progress at periodic intervals in a systematic way.

Dr. Zarire Screwvalla, Senior Vice President & Head of Management Services Group inaugurated the seminar by addressing the participants. He emphasized the Bank's commitment toward the Emiratization process and to nurture UAE Nationals, train them and enhance their skills.

Mr. Abdulla Al Rashedi, Vice President & Manager, Resourcing & Emiratization Department, valued the efforts of the students during their on the job training and discussed with them ways to improve the sponsorship scheme.

He also emphasized the importance of on the job training and the need to be sincere and committed to learning. During the course of the seminar, progress on the current training schedule of individual students and their aspirations were also discussed with the training deptartment.
