DCCI receives an invitation to visit Italy

Abdulrahman G. Al Mutaiwee the Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry DCCI received a delegation from Italy.

Headed by Mr. Pasquale Gervasini, President of the Association of Agriculture of Varese & Vice President of Federlombardia Agriculture, officials from associations from the Lombardy Region & Italian chambers and Mr. Piero Ricotti, the President of Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UAE and GCC countries. Mr. Sultan Majed Lootah, the Business Promotion Manager also attended the meeting.

Al Mutaiwee welcomed the delegation and discussed the commercial relations between Dubai and Italy. He expressed his pleasure on the Italian initiative lead by the Lombardy Region to enhance and develop the bilateral relations through this visit. He thanked the Italian chambers for this initiative and its efforts in seeking the opportunities available in Dubai.

Al Mutaiwee explained during the meeting the available opportunities in Dubai for both businessmen and companies. He spoke about GITEX, one of the major computer exhibitions in the Middle East. He highlighted Dubai local, regional and international exhibitions.

Al Mutaiwee emphasized on the strong relations between the UAE and Italy commercially, economically and politically. He encouraged promoting it through investing the available opportunities, mentioning that the UAE is one of the fastest growing countries in the region and offers many areas to invest. He explained that the UAE have an important geographic location in a region that consists of more than 1.5 billion people.

He expressed the DCCI's interest in exchanging more commercial delegations and missions between the two countries. He also spoke of the successful Economic Partnership forum between the UAE and Italy that was held in Milan last June.

Mr. Gervasini invited the DCCI to visit Italy and explore the opportunities there.

The statistics show that the total volume of non oil bilateral trade between Dubai and Italy in 2004 reached 6.1 billions Dirham, which equal 1.67 billion US Dollars comparing with 3.7 Billion Dirham that equal 1.02 Billion US Dollars in the year 2000.
