His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Minister of Defence and Crown Prince of Dubai, accompanied by an entourage of dignitaries, today visited the Etisalat stand at GITEX 2005.
Mohammad Hassan Omran, Chief Executive Officer, and other senior officials of Etisalat, guided the distinguished visitors around the giant stand - the largest for the second year in Hall 7 of Dubai World Trade Centre.

Omran said: "We feel privileged by the visit of HH Sheikh Mohammed to our stand. At GITEX 2005, we are connecting with our customers, exploring new business opportunities and networking with representatives of telecom operators, related companies and media. The appreciation that we received from this visit has enthused all our people and encouraged us to perform our duties to the best of our abilities."

The Etisalat stand at GITEX 2005 has been divided into three distinct areas, and these focus on services and solutions of particular interest to a customer segment. The three areas are 'Future', 'Consumer' and 'Corporate'.

Based in the 'Future' area are services that may appear like science fiction right now, but are in fact in the pipeline for launch by Etisalat in the future. Many of these will be pioneered in the region, and there is something for all segments of Etisalat's customers. Key services here include Liquid Media, Etisalat Messenger and Mobile Payments.

The 'Consumer' section, aimed at showcasing services for everyday individual users would be the most popular section, as people could see telecom innovations that would be reality soon. Many of these services are also pioneered in the region, and customers would greatly appreciate the ease and convenience brought about by these launches. Some of these services include Push to Talk, SMS over Fixed Lines, and online gaming.

The Corporate section focuses on how a good ICT infrastructure and range of services can enhance enterprise efficiency. Corporate consumers will find a range of services ready for launch or being demonstrated that will integrate various locations as well as media. Some of the key innovations that can be seen here include Email on the move, IP-based Virtual Private Networks, as well as solutions for corporate network security and web hosting.

"Etisalat's position at the forefront of the region's telecommunications industry has been strengthened in the last year and we have much to be proud of and to display," added Mr. Omran.

His Highness and the entourage were guided on a tour of the stand during which they were able to see the Corporation's display of some of its latest products and services. In addition they were informed of the innovations that are still in the pipeline and which will become commercially available in the near future.
