UAE University and Cosmo Oil signed a research cooperation agreement

Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. is one of the major oil refining and energy supplying companies of Japan. Cosmo Oil is actively associated with the oil industry of United Arab Emirates over thirty years through Abu Dhabi Oil Company (Japan) (ADOC), which is a subsidiary of Cosmo. One of the key corporate principles of Cosmo is the reduction of environmental burden. With that in mind they successfully carried out flare gas injection project in UAE through ADOC. More such projects are scheduled for future.

Cosmo Oil Co. has research laboratories for quality maintenance of petroleum products, development of new energy and of green engineering. Their research centre has succeeded in finding how to produce 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) at low cost and launched Pentakeep-V fertilizer as a product. Pentakeep-V is verified to improve the growth of several variety of plants and also effective in the salt damage.

ALA (Pentakeep-V) is very well evaluated by the growers of vegetables and fruit trees and its estimated sale in Japan reaches 10 tons per year. Export to other countries also launched and the first country to export was to South Korea.

It is their intention to introduce Pentakeep-V in the Middle East and to find the best use method of it in this region, in cooperation with UAE University.

The UAE University: New Vision
