Siemens ICM N awarded extension contract as provider to Wataniya Telecom

Today, Siemens ICM N announced the signature of a further network extension and an O&M contract for one of the major operators in the Middle East, Wataniya Telecom.

With this extension, Siemens re-confirms its position as sole infrastructure supplier for its partner Wataniya Telecom.

Despite though competition Siemens is proud to have won a new contract with Wataniya Telecom, worth 53 million Euro. The contract includes the first installation of General Packet Radio Services (GPRS), the extension of SSS, BSS, IN, TR/MW and Services.

Wataniya Telecom is the mainly privately owned Kuwaiti telecommunications giant, and is considered to be one of the major communications players, at the forefront of the advancement of mobile telephony, within the Middle East region. Siemens ICM N has a long-standing relationship with Wataniya Telecom, going back to 1998 when Siemens ICM N started the implementation as the operator's sole supplier of SSS, BSS and IN. Since then, Siemens ICM N has been awarded several contracts from Wataniya Telecom to support Wataniya to satisfy the high demand of their subscribers at all time. The services provided comprise an Arabic WAP, IN and the recently contracted GPRS solution for Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers.
