Samsung Electronics today presented three ground-breaking display technologies at GITEX 2005.
An impressive array of world-class TV models, including the market leading 80" PDP (Plasma Display Panel), 46" LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and 67" DLP (Digital Liquid Processing) televisions are the stars at the Samsung stand.

"The main attraction is of course the Middle East's first sleek-looking giant screen, the 80-inch Plasma TV that is designed to create the ultimate home theatre experience, these three market leading televisions offer unrivalled functionality with video playback, high quality display and picture resolution," said Mr. Ashraf Sajid, Sales and Marketing Manager, Audio-Visual division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

"At GITEX, Samsung is reiterating its leadership in the global TV market by demonstrating how recent technological developments will reshape the Middle East's TV marketplace, and how the company is prepared to further develop the market with new TV viewing possibilities as the digital era emerges."

Samsung's various flat-panel models demonstrating the company's leadership in the global television market include, a 80" PDP, which is only 89-mm thick, supports high-definition (HD) broadcasting, and boasts a contrast ratio of 2,000:1; 46" LCD TV, equipped with an outstanding 170-degree viewing angle and an extensive combination of 3.2 billion colours and 67" DLP TV, offering a 1,920x 1,080 pixel resolution and slim console design.

In addition, Samsung has created a completely new product category in flat-panel displays with launch of its newest SlimFit™ TV, just two-thirds the thickness of conventional CRT TVs. "Samsung has further proven its ability to continually raise the bar in digital TV development by introducing its ingenious image enhancer, known as Digital Natural Image engine or DNIe™, as well as 13 bit colour reproduction, providing 549 billion colours," Mr. Sajid added.

Samsung is embarking on a new mission to strengthen its leadership in audio-visual electronics with a two-fold strategy in core technology advancement and developing large flat-panel television models. Driving the ground-breaking technologies is Samsung's US$4.2 billion research and development investment allowing it to secure accolades from the prestigious Eurpoean Imagining and Sound Association.

Samsung Electronics has now been declared the world's number one consumer electronics brand, after it surpassed long entrenched player, Sony. The company's brand is now valued at US$14.9 billion and is ranked at the 20th position among the top 100 global brands in a survey by BusinessWeek magazine and InterBrand Consultancy.
