DCCI receives the new Consul General of Singapore

Abdul Rahman G. Al Mutaiwee Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) met Mr. Dileep Nair the Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai.

Mr. Sultan Majed Lootah, Manager of Business Promotion attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed ways of enhancing and strengthening the relationship between Dubai and Singapore, the future potentials for linking and communicating between the business communities on both sides.

Al Mutaiwee showcased the development of the relationship between Dubai and Singapore since its trade office in Dubai was established. Al Mutaiwee highlighted during the meeting the active role of Dubai in the region as a major player in the re-export sector due its strategic location. He explained it caters for the markets of India, Pakistan, Iran, Eastern Africa, GCC countries, and CIS countries. He added many international companies are using Dubai as an entry point to the regional markets and regional center for its operations.

Mr Nair said: "More delegations from Singapore visiting Dubai reflects the interest of Singapore in strengthening relations with Dubai. Companies in Singapore want to use Dubai as an entry point to the regional markets. In edition Singapore is interested in attracting more tourists from the UAE."

Al Mutaiwee expressed the DCCI's readiness to offer support for the Consulate General of Singapore and the cooperation in receiving trade missions and delegations from Singapore to incease the bilateral trade between the two countries.

The statistics show that the total volume of the non-oil bilateral trade between Dubai and Singapore reached last year 3.03 billion Dirham (826 million US Dollars) comparing with 1.94 billion dirham in 2000 (825 million US Dollars).
