The UAE's telecom sector will be closed to competition until at least 2015, with consumers stuck with a choice between services from two government owned operators, reported Gulf News. Licencing of a second telecom operator is currently in progress, without competitive bidding, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority director-general Mohammad N Al Ghannim told the daily.
