Acer uses GITEX to unveil strongest ever commercial desktop offering
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, September 27 - 2005 at 08:53
- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd, the leading notebook vendor in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), is making impressive gains in the business desktop market, a senior executive at the company has revealed.
Speaking at GITEX yesterday, Emanuele Accolla, Acer's Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), stated: "In the commercial desktop segment, Acer's year-on-year growth rate of 70 percent is more than five times market growth. Flexibility, scalability and affordability are the three key reasons for this astounding success."
"Our portfolio of business PCs is a serious proposition for any enterprise, no matter what size, and if growth rates continue, Acer expects to attain the number two position in the sector as early as Q1 2006," continued Acolla.
Acer's success in the business desktop sector confounds inaccurate predictions that notebooks are starting to replace desktops as the preferred business PC. There are many reasons for this: expandability, flexibility, greater storage capacity, higher memory and open architecture, for example.
"Already third place in the EMEA PC market, with a 13 percent share, Acer has made a name for itself as a company that strives to develop high-end IT solutions at competitive prices, removing the barriers between people and technology," said Acolla.
The company's latest commercial desktop range, the Acer Veriton 800 series, unveiled at GITEX yesterday, illuminates this fact. The Veriton 2800, for instance, is a prime example of the Acer philosophy, founded on the opinion that innovative design, advanced technology and affordability can go hand-in-hand.
A high-performance model which comes equipped with the latest Intel Pentium 4 processors and a cutting-edge Intel 915G chipset, the Veriton 2800 not only promises increased productivity, but also helps to increase workplace efficiency thanks to its ultra-slim, space-saving casing.
"The perfect desktop computer for a small office or home (SOHO) environment, the Veriton 2800 confirms that Acer is committed to putting customers first, which it does by developing and providing solutions tailored to suit the end-user's specific requirements, as well as by reducing total cost of ownership (TCO)." concluded Acolla.
Acer will be drawing significant attention to itself at this year's GITEX, due to the company's seemingly ever-expanding product portfolio. As well showcasing the company's exciting range of home entertainment products, which includes LCD TVs, media centres, projectors, home PCs and digital cameras, Acer will also be displaying its solutions for business, government and education customers.
The Acer business range includes a wide variety of handheld, notebook and desktop PCs, as well as an impressive array of networking, server, storage and other e-business solutions.
"The demand for high-performance desktops in the Middle East is growing incredibly fast. Companies are increasingly relying on steadfast, secure and efficient storage and transfer of information - a process which is fundamental to most business operations," continued Acolla.
"With the introduction of the Veriton 2800 and Veriton 6800 to the region, Acer is providing customers from all industry verticals, as well as the education and government sectors, with the most advanced technology available. As a company that is focused on customers, the dynamic Middle East market looks set to play a big role in the all important research and development process," concluded Acolla.
