The Bahrain Economic Development Board announces the 'World Investment Report 2005', an UNCTAD annual publication

The Kingdom of Bahrain has been selected by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to be the regional source for the announcement of the publication of its prestigious and influential World Investment Report 2005.

The announcement will take place at an event hosted by Bahrain's Economic Development Board (EDB) on Thursday, 29 September, 2005 at 5pm GMT (7pm Bahrain time) at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Bahrain.

The annual report provides an accurate ranking of all countries involved and is distributed around the globe at the same time, to ensure that no one entity uses it to their unfair advantage. The report is being launched this year in Tokyo, London, Geneva and New York, in addition to Bahrain.

The report lists the results of the annual, in-depth analysis of global foreign direct investment (FDI) flows the world over, ranking countries according to the level of FDI at the end of 2004. This report is especially relevant for governments seeking to break into new areas, as well as for trans-national corporations assessing the potential of new marketplaces. Bahrain's performance in the FDI world rankings last year was exemplary according to the 2004 report.

"We are very honoured to have been selected by UNCTAD to be the regional source of the World Investment Report 2005 this year. We realise the value of the information contained within the report and hope to use it to raise awareness of Bahrain's suitability for FDI inflow and establish ourselves as a powerful regional marketplace," said Shaikh Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO - EDB.

The event will take place Thursday, 29 September, 2005 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 5pm GMT (7pm Bahrain time).
