Linksys, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the recognised leading provider of voice, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer, SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) and small business customer, has announced the availability of products with SES (SecureEasySetup) technology in the UAE during Gitex Dubai 2005.

SES allows users to set up and add security to their wireless networks at the push of a button. Linksys is adding the SES feature to a number of products in its line of Wireless-G and Wireless-G with SpeedBooster products at no extra cost.

SecureEasySetup allows consumers to effortlessly establish their wireless networks and activate WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access™) security by simply pushing one button on the router and one button on the wireless device they want to attach to the network. Once the feature is activated, SES creates a highly secure, private connection between devices, automatically configures the network's SSID (Service Set Identifier), and enables WPA security features. Automatic configuration eliminates the manual passphrase, or key, entry required by traditional setup for the enabling of WPA. Customers no longer need to configure a network in order to create a wireless network, they can now simply push buttons to go wireless.

"Traditionally, installation of a wireless network with security features has been a complicated and time-consuming task. Linksys is simplifying the process, making it much easier to create and extend a wireless network with security," said Mohammad Meraj Hoda, Regional Manager, Middle East and Africa, Linksys. "Gitex Dubai will be an ideal platform to launch these products in this market as it presents numerous opportunities to promote the new technology among the right target audience."

"Looking ahead, customers can expect additional products to follow from Linksys, along with SES-enabled offerings from other manufacturers including notebooks and wireless printers," he added.

The SES feature can be added to multiple Linksys products as a software button, at no charge, by simply downloading firmware from the Linksys website. Customers just need to select their chosen country at www.linksys.com, find the desired product on the "Product" pages, then select the Firmware in order to obtain SES-enable drivers.

The products will be available via the Linksys distribution and partner network.
