  • PRESS RELEASE

Emirates Telecommunication Corporation- Etisalat- announced today its plan to launch a service called the 'Service Delivery Platform'.

The service, which is expected to be launched within the fourth quarter of 2005, enables Content and Service Providers access to Etisalat's systems to upload content and integrate their services using industry standards. Upon launching of the service, Etisalat will take over the delivery to the customers, a change that will assure correct and complete service or content delivery to the mobile customer.

Mohammed Al Fahim, Executive Vice President of Marketing - Etisalat, said: "The Service Delivery Platform comes as part of Etisalat's plan to enhance service and content providers' communication channels with our customers, and the service will add more opportunities for them. The service is equipped with cutting-edge tools and technologies that are expected to enhance the operations of service providers and offer them the opportunity to expand and diversify their sector."

With access to this service, content and service providers will need to submit their content or integrate their applications to Etisalat's delivery platform. Etisalat will manage the delivery to the end user based on demand. The system intelligence will segregate the content and services according to compatibility with different mobile handsets or other devices, meaning that users will not be burdened with content downloads or service offers that are not compatible with their device.

With Service Delivery Platform, mobile customers can now download content to their devices from the web or e-WAP, in addition to traditional SMS. Additionally, mobile customers can check their history of transactions with the online system at any time. Content and service providers will now be able to focus on research of demand and development of new and innovative services, including finalising attractive offers for customers. The service is expected to be launched before the end of this year.
