- PRESS RELEASE
eCompany, Etisalat's one-stop e-powerhouse Business Unit that provides Internet services and ICT solutions today announced at Gitex new enhancements to its SecureAccess package meant for large enterprises and SME customers who are looking for a reliable and secure solution in terms of authentication and authorization of their Internet transactions.
The solution is based on integrated PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) technology that includes an eCompany Server Certificate, Business User Certificates, Certificate Validation Component and eCompany Professional Services. It allows organizations to interact in a secure manner with users of its corporate network, enabling only the authenticated users to access businesses resources.
Packaged with a smart card terminal (reader / writer), smart card, application software and digital certificate, the solution offers flexibility, ease of deployment and ready integration with applications. Based on industry standard PKI and cutting-edge hardware, sensitive functions like private key generation, key storage and digital signing can take place on the smart card for enhanced security. The new version of the SecureAccess package now allows remote administration of smart card so that a user in another country or remote location can interface with the administrator for various activities such as resetting pincodes, or remotely downloading a digital certificate onto the user's smartcard.
According to Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, GM eCompany "These features dramatically reduce the overheads with regard to administration and logistical costs for our customers who have geographically dispersed users across the globe. Based on the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology, this solution provides a cost-effective and secure solution to authenticate identities before allowing access to corporate resources."
When a user accesses the web server, he is challenged to verify the identity of the server through a Server Certificate issued by eCompany after which he presents a Business User Certificate issued by eCompany. After authenticating the identity of the person logging onto the network, based on the eCompany digital certificate, the individual is allowed access with authorization privileges granted. All these features and enhancements thus help facilitate rapid deployment of access control using digital identities and protects information from unauthorized use by insiders as well as outsiders. A security policy with respect to web servers can also be implemented with implementation of a SecureAccess solution.
eCompany professional services are involved in the end-to-end deployment of SecureAccess with configuring access levels for users being a core activity. Standard package includes single access level for all users. Professional services can also work with customers to implement different access levels depending upon requirements of enterprise access level policy.
