- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, September 28 - 2005 at 15:31
- PRESS RELEASE
The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation -Etisalat- announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which Etisalat's equipment testing division, UAELAB, will work closely with the TRA to ensure that all telecommunications equipment available in the UAE are certified to the most relevant standards.
HE Mohamed Hassan Omran, Chairman and CEO, Etisalat, said: "We are extremely proud of the confidence that the TRA has shown in our equipment testing division and the procedures they use to carry out testing. The fact that the TRA wishes to work so closely with UAELAB is symbolic of the value that the UAELAB holds. We are sure that with this agreement, the consumers in the UAE can rest assured that any telecom equipment they purchase carrying the TRA and UAELAB seals will be of a high quality and compatible with the network in the UAE."
This partnership recognizes the role that the UAELAB has played in assuring the UAE market of the network compatibility of available equipment. Certified equipment will now carry both seals of approval by TRA and UAELAB.
UAELAB tests telecom equipment in the UAE for compatibility with the telecommunications network and infrastructure. Product samples are tested stringently, and the approved products are issued a seal of approval that can be displayed on all units of that particular model.
