- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, September 28 - 2005 at 16:50
- PRESS RELEASE
TEXPO 2005, the Middle East's only event fully dedicated to meeting the requirements of the region's apparel and allied industries, which successfully concluded at Expo Centre Sharjah on September 15th, had attracted a total of 2,440 trade visitors from across the globe.
Of the 2,440 visitors, 515 were pre-registered while the rest registered during the four-day event. A very large number of the trade visitors at this year's TEXPO made return visits, meaning that they visited the exhibition more than once during its running.
"This year's TEXPO focused on solutions and technology that would help the region's garment manufacturing companies and allied industries bring down production costs and enhance quality of product," said Mr. Shafaat Ali Khan, General Manager of Al Borj Machinery Trading Company, which was a major TEXPO exhibitor.
"The overwhelming response that we received was quite expected as the region's garment manufacturing and allied industries are currently reeling under stiff competition from other regions post-quota 2005. The regional garment manufacturing and allied industries have no option but to adopt new technology and solutions and become more competitive. TEXPO 2005 was therefore a favourite sourcing ground not only for the region's garment manufacturing businesses but also related industries like tent makers, upholsters, interior decorators, manufacturers of blinds and awnings, furniture makers, auto seat manufacturers, and boat builders," he added.
TEXPO 2005 had on display the complete range of technology and products used by garment manufacturers and allied industries, including industrial & domestic sewing machines, knitting and hosiery machinery and accessories for the making up industry, pressing machines, industrial irons, ironing tables etc., embroidery machines, laboratory dyeing machinery, quality testing and measuring equipment, accessories, including machinery components, fasteners, threads, machine needles, raschel elastics, zippers, dyes & chemicals, tapes & ribbons, enzymes, softeners etc., yarns and fabrics, and more.
"Our display at TEXPO 2005 concentrated on line of machines that would help improve productivity of factories and save electricity consumption and maintenance cost," said Mr. Tareq Abdullah, General Manager, TransGulf Enterprises, another exhibitor at TEXPO.
"The response that we received at this year's TEXPO was beyond our expectations but this may to a large extent be attributed to the Post-quota business environment. The Garment manufacturing and allied industries in the region realise that cutting production costs and improving quality are a must for survival," he said.
Mr. Amir Kanawati, Sales Manager, Oubari Gulf, which had a substantial presence at the TEXPO, said: "TEXPO 2005 had very successfully acted as a regional transmitting platform for global technological developments in the garment manufacturing and allied industries. We received numerous serious inquiries during the event."
