UAE falls in WEF rankings

The UAE slipped from 17 to 18 in the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report 2005-2006, due to its performance in technology and property rights. It was ranked 112th out of 117 for internet competition, because of its monopolistic telco environment. Low spending on research and development, and low enrolment in tertiary education were also criticised.
