The European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA) has named Philips' new Streamium Wireless Music Center 'European Audio Compact System Of The Year, 2005-2006', and given its' European Video Innovation Of The Year, 2005-2006' to Clear LCD™, an image enhancement technology developed for next generation Philips LCD FlatTV™ sets.

The Streamium Wireless Music Center, WACS700, is a versatile audio system capable of storing up to 750 audio CDs, converting them into MP3 music files to store a 40 gigabyte* hard disk.

The system can then stream stored music via Wi-Fi to up to five Streamium Wireless Music Station units located throughout the home. This was noted by the EISA Awards judges, who stated in their official citation that: "Stored songs become available on demand, individually and collectively, to multiple wireless music players anywhere in the home. This eliminates the traditional inflexibility and complication of 'wired' multiroom systems," adding that the WACS700 looks good, sounds good - and there's nothing else quite like it on the market.

Philips' long heritage of innovation in display and video technology has been reflected in EISA's decision to name Philips Clear LCD technology European Video Innovation of the Year2005-2006. Clear LCD - to be introduced commercially on Philips FlatTV sets in 2006 dramatically enhances the viewing experience, applying Philips' revolutionary Aptura backlighting technology to enables extreme motion sharpness, superb contrast in dark scenes and a very wide viewing angle.

In its award citation, EISA reflected on this, noting that: "Consumers are growing to love the slim profile and crisp pictures of the latest LCD TVs, even though LCD panels have traditionally suffered motion artefacts and a lack of black. Now Philips has tackled both issues head-on with its new Clear LCD technology."

Commenting on the 2005-2006 EISA Awards, Louis Hakim, CEO, Philips Middle East, said: "These two awards represent tremendous recognition of Philips' technological expertise and application of innovation in two areas of core competency - wireless connectivity and display excellence."

About the Streamium Wireless Music Center:
In its 'My Room, My Music' mode, the system can distribute different streams of music to
individual Wireless Music Stations, providing an ideal solution for households with broad tastes in music to enjoy all their CDs. In 'Music Broadcast' party mode, music can be played
throughout the house simultaneously on all connected stations, while the Music Follows Me
feature allows listeners to take their music from one room to another seamlessly.

Philips has ensured that ease-of-use is an integral part of the enjoyment and experience of The Streamium Wireless Music Center. With a hard disk library full of CDs, the system accesses the Gracenote® CDDB database to display artist, album and track information on the system's six-line LCD display remote control. The system's remote control also automatically synchronizes with the display on the Streamium Wireless Audio Center and Stations, replicating disc information, track/artist/album name or genre.

About ClearLCD technology:
Clear LCD has been created to address two limitations previously associated with the use of LCD panels for TVs - motion artifacts onscreen in fast moving scenes such as sport coverage, and reduced contrast on a LCD TV when used in a room with reduced ambient illumination.

By using Philips' Aptura™ dynamic scanning backlight, Clear LCD takes care of scanning and dimming simultaneously. Scanning backlight technology increases the sharpness of motion reproduction, and by combining it with higher refresh rates, retains superb picture 'quietness'.

The new Aptura backlight module using Philips' High Output fluorescent lamps allows for
deeper dimming of the lamps, resulting in better black level, higher contrast and a larger
viewing angle. Clear LCD technology gives the viewer vibrant, razor sharp images, even during fast motion sequences.
