Etisalat top executives chosen as industry leaders

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation - Etisalat - has been commended for the achievements of two of its key leaders, who have both been recognised for their contribution to their respective fields.

Etisalat's Chairman and CEO, H.E Mohammad Hassan Omran, has been awarded for his outstanding contribution in the field of telecommunications, and Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, General Manager, eCompany, has been awarded for his outstanding contribution to the adoption of Internet in the UAE.

The 2005 IT Weekly Arab Technology Awards, was held in line with the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2005 which is celebrating 25 years of innovation across the Middle East. The award honours and celebrates local and regional technology pioneers, leaders and educators of the Arab World, that have made the Middle East ICT market what it is today.

H.E Mohammad Omran said: "It is a great honour to be recognized by such an eminent panel of judges. Moreover, we look forward for Etisalat staying a driving force for the development and improvement of the fast growing Telecom industry. This award will provide Etisalat with renewed enthusiasm and dedication to advance the ICT sector further across the region. Further to that, I would like to highlight the tremendous effort exerted by all our company's staff of which such an achievement would not exist without each and every one's contribution."

Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, GM eCompany, said: "I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of eCompany. I am pleased to receive this singular honour by a reputed publishing house such as ITP. This will only serve to encourage our company to redouble its efforts to further drive internet services towards the Information Age. On this occasion, I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of my colleagues at eCompany for their efforts in driving eCompany's efforts in the Internet arena."

The 2005 IT Weekly Arab Technology Awards consist of 28 different segments, and there are awards for institutions as well as individuals that make a difference in the Arab world. The winners are selected by a panel of senior editors in the region.
