The LW20 mini Express notebook features a 12.1-inch fine bright LCD screen and powerful 3D sound card, and the LW40 Express notebook has a 14-inch fine bright LCD screen and five-in-one memory card reader.

Both products are DMB & FMX equipped, and offer enhanced portability and Internet access for notebooks in their category, while LW 40 offers integrated Bluetooth.

"The GCC PC market is driven by demand for notebooks, and IDC analysts estimate regional shipments of notebooks increased by a phenomenal 108 per cent in the year up to Q2 2005," said C.K Cho, General Manager, LG Saudi Arabia.

"What's more, total consumer notebook sales increased by 258 per cent in Saudi Arabia alone during the same period, according to IDC. This shows the importance of Saudi Arabia to our business, and LG Electronics is responding with products that raise the bar for notebook computing. Globally and regionally notebooks are a priority for LG, and the company will continue to bolster its reputation for making lightweight, capable machines with long battery life."

Receiving its global launch in April, the LW40 is the world's first celestial DMB & FMX notebook. The LW20, meanwhile, is super-slim at 29.6mm and weighs just 1.71kg.

With maximum configuration Intel Pentium M 2.13Ghz CPU and 1GB DDR2 memory, it has twice the performance of most competitor notebooks in its class.

Designed specifically for a mobile lifestyle, the LW20 and LW40 feature the latest Intel wireless connectivity, True 5.1 Channel Dolby Digital Sound System, moreover LW 20 is equipped with SRS True Surround XT and SRS WOW system along with 3 watt speaker. Both are equipped with the Windows XP operating system.
The LW20 and LW40 are packed with entertainment and business features ranging from enhanced graphics to better responsiveness and support for greater security options, which don't compromise important capabilities such as integrated wireless LAN access and extended battery life.

The next generation data bus, PCI Express, supports LG Express notebooks. This high-speed device is designed for high-performance graphics cards and fast disk drives and enables notebooks to use DDR2 [Double Data Rate 2] RAM, which until now has been limited to desktops, increasing data transfer speed from 400MHz to 533MHz.

"Equipped with the super multi DVD drive, 3D surround sound, powerful 3D graphics thanks to Intel's Graphic Media Accelerator (GMA 900), the LW20 and LW40 mini notebooks are best in its class," said Mr.Khaled Mustafah of Jamal A-Jassim Electronics, the exclusive distributor of LG notebooks in Saudi Arabia. "The LW20 and LW40 notebooks support key mobile computing functions like powerful processing capabilities, enhanced battery life, low power consumption, high density audio quality, higher memory bandwidth and wireless access. These capabilities place LG laptops on an equal footing with the newest desktops."

Even though LG has a long history of notebook manufacturing as a notebook contract manufacturer, it started selling notebooks under its own brand name only in 2003.

LG notebooks have been well received in regional and international markets. PC Magazine Middle East has acknowledge LG as the Notebook & Tablet PC manufacturer of the year 2005, in addition LG Electronics became an Intel Validation Partner in 2005, giving the brand early access to Intel's technology and a time to market advantage.
