Emirates' passengers departing from Dubai, Kuwait, Australia and New Zealand can now select and secure their preferred seats online, and check in for their flights from the comfort of their homes, hotels or offices, by logging on to www.emirates.com. The airline also plans to gradually introduce its online check-in facility to other destinations across its network in the next few months.

Ghaith al Ghaith, Emirates' Executive Vice President Commercial Operations Worldwide, said: "Emirates is pleased to introduce the online check-in facility, which provides customers with the opportunity to select their preferred seats, and this saves them time at the airport. We are confident our customers will welcome this new option to check in for their Emirates flights via the Internet."

When checking in online, passengers will be prompted to enter their travel information, and they will also be able to select their seats from amongst those available at the time of check in. Once the check-in process has been completed, passengers will be provided an online check-in receipt.

They can then proceed to a dedicated counter at the airport to check in their luggage and exchange their online check-in receipt for boarding passes. Passengers are required to present themselves at the airport counter no later than 90 minutes prior to departure.

Emirates' online check-in facility is available between 12 hours and two hours prior to flight departure. Passengers can check in for groups of up to nine persons travelling together as well as for onward flights, providing the travel commences on Emirates.

Mr Al Ghaith said: "Emirates continually looks for new ways to enhance our services, and we will be adding new capabilities to our online check-in service in the near future."

From Dubai, Emirates operates a modern fleet of wide-bodied aircraft to over 75 destinations in 54 countries. The airline, one of the world's fastest growing, has won over 270 international awards for quality and excellence across its operations.
