The 2005 cycle of the Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) has generated tremendous interest among the tourism sector, according to an announcement from the Department of Economic Development (DED).

The Department, which also announced that the last date of submission for the DHDA has been set at November 9, 2005, conducted an introductory seminar for potential applicants of the award, with a significant percentage of the attendees at the seminar comprising companies from the hospitality industry.

The DHDA encourages local organisations to focus on Emiratisation and is open to Dubai-based establishments that invest in national human resources in their organisations and facilitate their growth and development.

The increasing number of companies from the hospitality industry is a clear indication of the changing trends in the UAE employment market. Companies are taking note of the fact that UAE nationals now exploring career options in the tourism sector in addition to the traditional areas of finance, banking and insurance and are beginning to institute career development paths for their national employees.

This year's edition of the DHDA will include awards in seven economic sectors including Financial Services, Construction, Trading, Professional, Services Sector, Tourism and Manufacturing.
