Batelco staff complete e-learning courses successfully

Batelco employees have recently successfully completed e-learning courses that were part of a trial organised by the company as a pilot phase of its e-learning project.

The six week trial involved Time Management courses provided by Thompson Netg and reflected the company's ongoing strategy to further develop and enhance the skills of its staff to better administer their day-to-day issues at work especially with an open telecom market.

Sixty employees from the company's different departmentsı took part in the trial, which is planned by Batelco to be the first step towards the full deployment of e-learning within the company and then rolling out this service to the community.

"The trial courses were aimed to promote and actively encourage E-learning within Batelco, to learn how the culture in Batelco could affect an e-learning programme and to see how different individuals approach training" explained Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Batelco.

"This trial not only helped in realising the issues of e-learning, but also helped in determining its most successful implementation plans to be utilised in Batelco. The next step would be to conduct an e-learning workshop with the trial participants to set the plan forward". Ahmed added.

He also stressed on the company's commitment to help the Kingdom in transforming into the knowledge economy through providing the community with the most advanced web-based training methods.

"In the Middle East training is mainly instructor led. This trial would be a successful case study to show the local organisations how e-learning is now a well accepted means of increasing skills and knowledge across the enterprise," he explained.

"Through a balanced approach to selecting appropriate technologies, using synchronous and asynchronous learning, selecting or developing high quality content and the appropriate use of instructor support and coaching, e-learning can offer businesses an alternative and/or support to the traditional learning methods", he added.
