KOM Networks announces support for HP Ultra Density Optical Jukeboxes
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 13 - 2005 at 08:28
- PRESS RELEASE
KOM Networks, a global leader of Compliance, Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions, today announced support for the next generation HP StorageWorks Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Jukeboxes that feature increased capacity and higher performance.
KOMworx, KOM Networks' industry leading software, provides policy-based, dynamically managed storage solutions that help a wide range of organizations archive and protect digital assets across multiple storage devices and operating platforms. KOMworx simplifies storage management by consolidating storage resources into a single 'virtual volume', regardless of the technology and interconnectivity. KOMworx extends simplified storage management to healthcare, legal and financial applications, as well as third party applications such as Enterprise Content Management (ECM), E-mail archiving, and Document Management Systems (DMS).
"Government regulations today have become more stringent in requiring data to be archived to WORM storage media such as UDO for legal admissibility. KOMworx software seamlessly integrates with HP StorageWorks UDO Jukeboxes to address customers' key concerns and help them achieve compliance," said Dr. Taher Shaath, Chief Executive Officer of KOM Networks.
"Customers today are forced to operate in heterogeneous storage environments to address their compliance and business continuity needs," said Chris Jones, Regional Manager, KOM Networks Middle East. "KOMworx provides the ideal adaptive ILM platform, which incorporates disparate storage resources into a homogeneous global namespace that continuously adapts to their changing needs and requirements."
KOMworx adaptive design enables customers to combine various storage technologies, including hard disk and UDO, into a single global namespace. The global namespace is a virtual volume, which is dynamically scalable and can hold up to 500 petabytes of storage capacity per volume. KOMworx innovative software also provides Hard Disk Fixed Content Archiving (e-WORM), e-WORM++ (which combines UDO, WORM permanence with high performance disk storage), ILM, NAS aggregation, dynamic capacity management and true obsolescence protection in meeting the most stringent regulatory requirements.
"KOMworx software complements HP's portfolio of UDO Jukeboxes by helping customers better manage their data and facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements around long-term storage of tamper-proof electronic files," said Tom Sas, product manager, Automated Storage, HP. "HP StorageWorks UDO Jukeboxes provide customers nearline storage at much lower cost and are one of the many components in HP's Information Lifecycle Management strategy to help customers capture, manage, retain and deliver information according to its business value."
