It is recognised that excellence in today's dynamic business environment requires organisations to constantly evolve and upgrade their capabilities and infrastructure. In pursuit of this guiding principle, CBO is currently in the process of comprehensively upgrading its entire IT environment aiming to bring forth a well-structured, open-ended, state-of-the-art information system capable of dealing with the increasing complexity of business requirements.

The process of updating an IT infrastructure such as the one proposed for the CBO is challenging and complicated. Over the past months, CBO has completed the research phase of this process, which included thorough analysis of the underlying business needs and the macro-level system requirements to meet such needs.

Moving ahead, CBO has chosen Gulf Business Machines (GBM) Oman, the General Marketing and Services Representative (GMSR) for IBM World Trade Corporation (WTC), as its partner to manage the process of determining the right systems, procurement and implementation.

Among other tasks, GBM's expertise will be utilised to assess the extent to which the current IT system should be upgraded. This critical assessment will determine the future needs of the IT Department, staff training, procurement process and the tenure of the implementation phase.

CBO believes GBM's extensive and global experience in this arena will add great value in building up its IT system and infrastructure in line with the best practices in the banking industry.
