Industry veteran to expand Holiday Autos Middle East

Holiday Autos Middle East welcomes Ben Kurian in the role of Regional Business Development Manager, based in their Dubai offices.

Kurian has a rich history of working in the travel industry. He has held posts with several airline companies including British Caledonian, KLM, Emirates, Kuwait Airways, Gulf Air, DNATA and most recently with Illusions Online (a travel software company) as General Manager. He also has almost eight years of experience with the Emirates Group.

After qualifying as a Chartered Marketer, highlights of Kurian's career include the conception and set-up of Kuwait Airways Holidays and helping to expand Emirates Holidays into Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in the UAE, as well as Saudi Arabia.

At Holiday Autos, he is tasked with developing business in the Middle East, North Africa, Indian-subcontinent and Far East through strategic partnerships with the travel-trade and related consortiums. He is also responsible for increasing online sales from the travel trade and consumers through internet marketing.

Holiday Autos Middle East is a part of Holiday Autos International Limited, the world's largest leisure car rental broker. It offers low cost car rental in over 4,000 locations worldwide, and operates in over 60 countries. In 2004, the group's turnover was approximately £210m (AED 1.4 billion) handling in excess of 10 million car rental days.

'My focus now is to fully grow Holiday Auto's potential in the region,' said Kurian. 'We have a fantastic and extremely attractive product. The rest is up to us to build.'

Holiday Autos was co-founded in the UK in 1987 by Clive Jacobs, Chairman & Chief Executive. In 2003, the company was purchased by lastminute.com and this year, US-based Sabre Holdings acquired lastminute.com for £577m (AED 3.8 billion).

Holiday Autos Middle East is a joint venture that is 50% owned by lastminute.com (part of Sabre Holdings) and 50% percent owned by Managing Director, Nazar Musa, a 10-year veteran of the company.
