- PRESS RELEASE
LG Electronics displayed a host of its cutting-edge digital products at the 2005 Korea Electronics Show, including a 102-inch plasma display panel TV, the world's largest plasma TV.
'With the 102-inch plasma TV, LG Electronics has the largest line-up of high definition plasma TVs,' said K H Kim, President, LG Electronics, Middle East and Africa Operations. 'Our screen sizes now include 102, 76, 71 and 60-inch models. The 102-inch breakthrough boasts a high-definition picture with 2.07-million pixels; that's more than twice the number of pixels in other advanced PDP products. To achieve this level of definition, LG has pioneered high-speed signal treatment technology, and proprietary picture treatment algorithm technology.'
LG Electronics is aiming for a 30 per cent share of the global PDP module market this year, and a leading 20 per cent share of the worldwide PDP TV market by 2006. According to the 2004 Gallup brand equity index survey, LG is the second most recognised electronics brand in the Middle East and Africa with 55.70 percent unaided brand awareness.
The 102-inch plasma TV employs super-speed driving technology and innovative materials, which are essential to high-definition plasma television products. It has double the resolution of ordinary plasma TVs, but it achieves 1,000 candelas (cd/‡u) and a contrast ratio of higher than 5,000:1.
Kim said: 'LG Electronics' 42-inch and 50-inch single-scan PDP TVs feature 1,000 candelas and performance efficiency levels that are 30 per cent higher than existing models. They support a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and deliver clearer pictures by employing proprietary picture clarity enhancement algorithms,' said Kim.
LG's award-winning LCD monitors were also on display at the 2005 Korea Electronics Show. At 20.5mm, the 80-series (L1780Q and L1980Q) is the world's thinnest LCD monitor, and the products measure just 66mm in depth when folded.
LG also showcased T-style satellite/terrestrial DMB phones; multi-tasking, super-small music phones; and a 5-million-pixel digital camera phone.
The satellite DMB phones (LG-SB130/KB1300) and terrestrial DMB phones (LG-LD1200) feature a rotational T-style LCD, which allows users to conveniently watch DMB in horizontal mode one-handed.
DIOS is a flagship range of new built-in home appliances, featuring a side-by-side refrigerator, light-wave oven and dishwasher.
LG also showcased a Sonoma platform-based 12.1-inch, terrestrial DMB laptop PC. The LW20 features a 12.1-inch wide LCD, and high-output stereo speakers. Despite its small size, the LW20 is equipped with a Pentium M 2.13GHz CPU and a large 1GB DDR2 memory.
