National Bank of Abu Dhabi wins Middle East e-Banking Country Award and Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award

NBAD won the Middle East e-Banking Country Award and Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award, instituted by Datamatix on 25/9/05 and ITP on 26/9/05, respectively.

This dual recognition follows on from NBAD's recognition as the Best Bank in UAE, by both Bankers and Euromoney, earlier this year.
These awards recognize banks that have achieved exemplary levels of business excellence based on the latest global technology developments and can be considered as role models for development in the Middle East.

Both Middle East e-Banking Country Award and Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award recognize NBAD's use of the internet in providing effective and efficient service to the customers

NBAD was the only bank in UAE to receive the Middle East e-Banking Country Award. There were 5-other country awards in addition to the UAE award. There was no regional award.

NBAD was the only non-IT related company to receive the Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award. No other Bank was recognized under this category from the Middle East.

Ex-President of Ireland and ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia were the guests of honor at the Middle East e-Banking Country Award ceremony hosted by Datamatix and attended by the elite of the industry.

A member of the ruling Maktoum family and Mohammed Gergawi were the guests of honor at the Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award ceremony hosted by ITP. Jordanian IT Minister, leading Dubai-based UAE Nationals from DIC, e-Government office, Etisalat and IT solution providers graced the ceremony.

Criteria for selecting winning banks included use of e-Banking technology , ease of use, customer friendliness, online safety, breadth of online banking services, using online banking to reduce service cost (like free email alerts, free bill payment), promoting EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), maximizing customer reach through e-Banking), minimizing hurdles to e-Banking and bringing new concepts to e-Banking.

NBAD has a long history of providing innovative and secure e-services such as 24 hour remittance, utility bill payments, nbadOnline SMS alert service, NBAD card alert services, Direct Debit facilities and Verified by Visa and MasterCard secure code for e-commerce transactions etc. NBAD has a strong technology platform and its infrastructure like e-payments pub is just an example of NBAD's commitment to implementing technology in day-to-day banking.

Mr. Khalid Deemas, Head of Retail Banking said, "The Middle East e-banking award is just recognition for our efforts. We recently launched our nbadOnline SMS alert system, where by customers are intimated by SMS whenever funds are transferred through our internet banking service nbadOnline. Very shortly, we will also come out with RSA security tokens for all our retail online users. Customer's ease of use and security is our prime concern and we will continue to provide them the best services."
