Saudi Arabian oil company awards contract to BJ Tubular Services
- Saudi Arabia: Thursday, October 20 - 2005 at 08:19
- PRESS RELEASE
BJ Tubular Services today announced that it has been awarded a three-year multi-million dollar contract to provide services by a major national oil company in Saudi Arabia.
BJ Tubular Services has commenced operations, and has already completed a number of casing and tubing running operations. All related services are being provided by BJ Tubular Services utilising dedicated personnel and specialist equipment located in the division's bases in the region in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
"For BJ Tubular Services, the renewal of this contract from this particular operator is due in large part to the nationalisation programme that we have been carrying out. Since 2001 we have been actively recruiting and developing personnel from Saudi Arabia in both operational and supervisory roles," said Kenny Watt, general manager of BJ Tubular Services. "We make sure that these recruits participate in BJ's Operator Career Advancement Programme that involves training and work experience in both Saudi Arabia and at the division's global headquarters in Aberdeen. A number of technicians have also gained valuable experience in the BJ approach to operations, quality assessment and health, safety and environment practices while working in Qatar, Oman, Azerbaijan, and India. As a result, upon returning to work, their overall performance is enhanced," he added.
The recent contract award illustrates BJ Tubular Services' long-term relationship with this particular operator. From 2001 to 2003, BJ Tubular Services carried out casing and tubing running, and pick-up and laydown services throughout Saudi Arabia on their behalf.
BJ Tubular Services specialises in personnel and equipment for running casing and tubing, particularly premium connections, high chrome content tubulars, dual, triple and sub-sea completions, as well as hammer conductor-driving services.
BJ Services Company (BJS-NYSE, CBOE) is a leading provider of pressure pumping and related oilfield services to the petroleum industry. The company operates in every major oil and gas producing region.
