Thani Investments appoints Merrill Lynch as its global advisors

Al Thani Emirates Petroleum Corporation, an Independent Arab Oil Company, today announced that it has appointed Merrill Lynch, Global Markets and Investment Banking Group ('Merrill Lynch GMI') to advise on Oil & Gas investment opportunities in Middle East and North Africa.

Al Thani Emirates Petroleum Corporation has a number of Oil and Gas interests in the Middle East and North Africa. It has established strong relationships with a number of National Oil Companies and has MOUs with Sonatrach and Pertamina EP for jointly identifying oil & gas investment opportunities. Al Thani Emirates Petroleum Corporation is actively evaluating the acquisition of producing oil and gas interests in North Africa.

'Our strength has been in business development which enabled us to secure our asset portfolio and Merrill Lynch has recognised this competitive advantage which we possess.' Said Abdulla Saeed Al Thani, Chairman of Al Thani Emirates Petroleum. He continued: 'Value creation is available in high quality assets in Africa. Through this cooperation we will be able bring to market these opportunities for all stakeholders, in particular for the individual countries and their people.'
