Air Arabia's first flight to Jordan

Air Arabia's Chairman and CEO led the delegation of senior officials, media, invitees and passengers on the inaugural flight and were met by senior officials from Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Aqaba Development Corporation and Civil Aviation. Fares start from AED 199 for a one-way flight to Aqaba, exclusive of tax and surcharges, with similar fares for return flights.

Speaking at the occasion, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Air Arabia's Chairman said, "I would like to thank the Jordanian Government and Civil Aviation Authorities for granting us rights to fly to Aqaba. It gives us great pleasure to be able to offer affordable travel to Jordanians in the UAE and also to connect Jordan to destinations across the Middle East. We are committed to offering affordable travel to more and more people and shall continue to expand to new destinations in order to do so."

Flights to Aqaba operate every Thursday and Sunday, departing Sharjah at 10:15 to arrive in Aqaba at 11:40, departing from Aqaba at 12:25 to arrive back in Sharjah at 18:45.

The Chairman added, "We look forward to growing trade and tourism links between UAE and Jordan and providing the opportunity to Jordanians to travel to the UAE for the first time or just more often. Aqaba is a destination with great potential for tourism with Wadi Rum and Petra just a short drive away. We look forward to increasing tourism to Aqaba and giving people the opportunity to take affordable holidays more often."
