The support provided by the Abu Dhabi authorities will enable UFI to support the development of the exhibition industry in the region. To offer additional services to its members in the region, UFI plans to open an Africa/Middle East office in Abu Dhabi (UAE) early next year.
H.E. Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, ADNEC, Managing Director, stated, "Our partnership with UFI reflects the strong position which Abu Dhabi holds as a modern, professional hub for international exhibitions. We are certain that this partnership will contribute significantly to the professional development of the exhibition industry in the region."
Among its first initiatives, UFI plans to launch a major seminar open to all exhibition professionals in the spring of 2006.
The Africa/Middle East Office is UFI's second regional office. In 2004, UFI opened an office in Hong Kong to provide services to the UFI Asia/Pacific Region.
Today UFI has 29 members in the Africa /Middle-East Region and has recognised the "UFI Approved" quality of 43 exhibitions. Tom Beyer, UFI President, said, "We look forward to increasing our contacts with quality exhibition organisations in the region and including them in our UFI ranks in the future. A direct UFI presence in the region will allow us to develop new programmes in cooperation with our UFI member, AUIEC, the Arab Union for International Exhibitions & Conferences."
