Batelco announces new bilateral GPRS/MMS roaming agreement with Bharti (AirTel) in India

Batelco is announcing the launch of commercial GPRS/MMS service with Bharti (AirTel) in India, which allows Batelco mobile users access to the Indian company's networks in Delhi (INDAT), Haryana (INDA5), Uttar Pradesh West (INDA6), Punjab (INDA9), Himachal Pradesh (INDBL), Rajasthan (INDH1) and Madhya Pradesh (INDA8).

This agreement will enable Batelco's Freetime and Valuetime (postpaid) mobile customers, who have GPRS/MMS enabled handsets with GPRS/ MMS settings visiting the above stated Indian cities, to enjoy all mobile services including pictures, video clips, email and access to the Internet. Upon arrival in those geographies, Batelco post-paid mobile customers will see "AirTel" on their handset displays indicating automatic access to the company's networks.

"With the addition of this new destination, our post-paid mobile customers can send & receive picture messages and browse the internet directly from their mobile while roaming in a range of popular destinations including Kuwait (Wataniya), the UAE (Etisalat), Singapore (StarHub), the Philippines (Globe Telecom & Smart ), the UK (O2), the USA (Cingular), Hong Kong (Hutchison), Jordan (Mobilecom) and Saudi Arabia (Mobily)," says Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Batelco.

"Batelco will continue its efforts to secure similar bilateral agreements with other global operators to ensure that its customers are in constant contact with their beloved ones wherever they might be," continues Ahmed."
