"Our Connected Planet strategy is really about liberating people from the existing constraints of technology, so they can explore and create a richer world that until recently they have had to accept." said Louis Hakim, CEO, Philips Middle East. "We are committed to offering consumers products that are compliant to our brand promise 'Sense and Simplicity' especially at a time when technological solutions are becoming very complex".
Under the umbrella of 'Connected Planet', Philips introduces a range of products and services that demonstrates the concept of wireless connectivity. The Philips Streamium family of products brings the Connected Planet vision to life, by bringing enriched entertainment off the PC and directly from the Internet into your home.
As an example, you can store music, photo or video files on a PC, and enjoy it anywhere in the home using the Streamium Home Entertainment System or the Streamium MultiMedia Links. This gives the best of both worlds: combining the storage and downloading capabilities of the PC with the excellent sound and picture reproduction of audio and display products.
The iPronto controls every entertainment option by a single dashboard, just by using a few buttons and touch-screen interfaces that control everything from lighting to air conditioning. Philips also offers the freedom to connect with its wireless networking products that links the computer, PC peripherals, any Wi-Fi connected devices and a broadband Internet connection together into one seamless network.
Inside the home, for example, various products can be connected directly to Internet, and content can be distributed between these products using a wireless local network. Those on the move can also access their home network or other personal data points from virtually any location. It is almost as if the traditional restrictions of space and time no longer apply.
" As we've seen broadband, wireless and digital media technologies grow in affordability, availability and functionality, we now have an opportunity to give consumers intuitive, spontaneous access to content," commented Khalid Tuer, General Manager for Philips Consumer Electronics, Middle East & Africa.
Philips is working together with major broadband providers in Europe to implement its vision for a Connected Planet. Currently six separate co-operation alliances have been formed with BT, T-Com, KPN, Belgacom, Telecom Italia and Telefonica to promote and develop broadband-connected home entertainment. Philips and its partners in six European countries offer consumers one single package that contains a broadband subscription, wireless networking equipment and a wirelessly connected device.
By working together on future products and services, Philips and its partners will be able to offer simpler and better solutions for the Connected Planet.
