'Qatar Airways are very pleased to lend their support to such a prestigious event,' said area manager, Mohammed Ali. The two-day tournament will be held this weekend, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th October. Day one will be played on the sand course at Awali Golf Club with tee times from 7.00am to 12.30pm while day two will feature a shotgun start at 7.00am on the grass course at Riffa Golf Club, soon to play host to the European Seniors Tour Championship.
The 36-hole Desert Challenge will be played in the individual stableford format with maximum handicap limits of 18 for gents and 24 for ladies. Golfers from Riffa Golf Club, Awali Golf Club and the Bahrain Golf Club are invited to participate although the maximum field size for each day is 130 players. Riffa member, Hamed Salem will be defending his title as overall winner of the event in 2004 and Emma Boyd will be defending the leading lady title.
