"The total volume of trade generated during the three day exhibition is pegged around US$ 25 million, with confirmed orders of US$ 5 million, and US$ 20 million worth of contracts in final stages of negotiation Fresh orchids, instant foods and construction materials were the mainstay of the exhibition," he stated.
The Thailand exhibition attracted more than 12,000 visitors over the three day event, of which 4,000 were trade visitors and the rest general public. Sales at the venue itself were focussed on popular Thai decorative items, jewellery and herbal and spa products.
Meanwhile, one of the exhibitors, Tun Marketing and Trading Co. Ltd. has signed a US$ 51,300 contract with Spinneys Dubai. Ms. Sasiya Silanuruk, Managing Director of Tun, confirmed that her company had embarked on a trial phase of selling their products at various Spinneys outlets in Dubai.
"Spinneys was interested in the entire range of Tun branded products including herbal drinks, instant herbal rice, ready-to- cook noodles and soups and sauces. The appointment of a local agent to represent Tun in the UAE is expected to be completed soon, and our first delivery will commence in December," she stated.
Mr. Laohachewin announced that the various Thai companies, under the aegis of the Thai Trade Center would participate in the Big 5 and Index exhibitions in November, and that the Thai Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Taksin Shinnawatra was expected to pay an official visit to the UAE to coincide with these major events.
He also confirmed that the next Thailand exhibition will be held in Dubai in September 2006, at the World Trade Centre, but in a larger venue. "The space for the event will be doubled to 4,000 sq metres, as we expect the number of participants to double in proportion. There are more than 300 Thai exporters and manufacturers waiting in the ranks to register for this popular event," he said.
