Batelco announces new bilateral GPRS/MMS roaming agreement with Optus Mobile in Australia

Batelco is announcing the start of commercial GPRS/MMS service on a bilateral basis with Optus Mobile in Australia.

By virtue of this agreement, Batelco's postpaid mobile customers, who have GPRS/MMS enabled handsets with GPRS/ MMS settings, will be able to use all mobile services including sending and receiving pictures, video clips, email messages and browsing the Internet through their mobile sets while they are in Australia. Upon arrival in Australia, Batelco post-paid mobile customers may choose "OPTUS" network to be able to use GPRS/MMS Roaming service.

"This agreement puts the number of operators we have GPRS/MMS Roaming agreements with to 12 operators (27 networks) in 11 countries," says Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Batelco.

"Batelco has a commitment towards its customers to enable them to be in touch with their relatives, friends, and colleagues wherever they might be. We will certainly continue our efforts to achieve this goal through signing more bilateral agreements with other global operators,"
