- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, November 09 - 2005 at 15:08
- PRESS RELEASE
In what has been praised as a 'significant achievement' by Auditors from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd, the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) and six of its brands have achieved the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2000 certification that now confirms that it complies with its requirements for a Quality Management System.
"Our achievement sends a clear message that we operate by world-class standards. In our efforts to achieve excellence, ISO certification enables us to deliver better results and helps us to exceed the expectations of our Business Partners," says Ahmad Bin Byat, Director General of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone.
The auditors from Lloyd's, led by Senior Auditor Roy Calver, expressed their admiration for the work of TECOM's Quality Office, telling them that they should all, "be very proud of yourselves."
TECOM recently unveiled its strategic blueprint for excellence that details its long-term vision and strategy to meet and exceed international benchmarks.
The blueprint is consistent with the European Foundation for Quality Management's (EFQM's) Business Excellence Model, which encourages excellence in the public and private sector, and contributes to the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister to achieve international standards of excellence in all organisations.
Since its inception, TECOM has followed a Total Quality Management (TQM) approach which implements quality through the simple policy of "Do the right things right, the first time, every time".
Following the achievement of ISO 9001:2000 certification, TECOM is also working to obtain ISO 14001:2004 and OSHAS certifications in environment, occupational health and safety by the end of 2005.
