World Diabetes Day, care for feet

As much as 24% of the population in the Gulf has a predisposition to developing diabetes, with increased risk associated with sedentary lifestyle and a poor diet, according to Belhoul Speciality Hospital endocrinologist Dr Imad Ginawi. World Diabetes Day falls on 14 November, and the 2005 theme is on diabetes and foot care. Individuals can carry the disease for ten years before symptoms appear.
