This special event will bring over 800 delegates to Sharjah University City Hall including English language teachers, principals, zone officials, academics and education leaders from both across the country and internationally.

This year's conference theme, 'New Directions, New Possibilities,' acknowledges the fact that the Ministry of Education now encompasses all levels of education within the UAE, thereby providing excellent opportunities for interaction between these levels and a widened horizon of educational possibilities.

Breaking tradition from the past, this year's conference targets a wider audience of education professionals which will include teacher educators, English teachers from tertiary institutions as well as English teachers in private schools. As a result of the new focus, a second day has been added, making the conference for the first time, a two-day event.

Keynote speeches will be presented by Joseph Lo Bianco, Chair of Language and Literacy Education at the University of Melbourne and an expert in the area of language policy, peace education, literacy planning, bilingualism and multicultural education, and Sarah Phillips, a teacher, teacher trainer and author who has specialized in the area of young learners and language learning. The conference will be of significant interest to educational professionals interested in teacher and faculty development, sharing, and learning.

The fourth annual ELTS conference is proudly sponsored by the Higher Colleges of Technology, The UNESCO Chair Program, The Centre for Applied Studies in Education at the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology, and the University City Professional Network. The conference is also supported by Cambridge University Press, Macmillan, Pearson Longman, Findel Education International Division, Oxford University Press, Almoe, Thompson Heinle, and Promethean.
