Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today announced new appointments to its senior management team in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) led by Senior Vice President and General Manager Andrew Dutton.

The new appointments are a key aspect of CA's EMEA growth strategy, which is designed to deliver sustained, profitable revenue growth in the region. Bringing significant industry experience to CA, the strengthened senior management team will report into Dutton and collectively will be responsible for execution and accountability across EMEA.

The new appointments span leadership in five new regional markets responsible for designated sales territories, region-wide business units responsible for specific growth segments, and functional leaders responsible for execution and accountability.

The two new hires announced today are:

Alan Banks, area manager, Western Markets, EMEA. Alan's responsibilities include all business activities across the UK, Ireland, South Africa and Israel. Banks joins CA from global software vendor BEA Systems, where he was senior vice president, Global & Enterprise department, and formerly vice president, Northern Europe.

Sabby Gill, vice president, operations and integration, EMEA. Gill is charged with ensuring the smooth running of sales operations, sales enablement and integration of people and assets from acquired companies. Prior to joining CA, Gill worked at Oracle, where he was responsible for the company's Applications Business Unit within EMEA and for the international integration of PeopleSoft. He previously spent nine years at PeopleSoft in various management roles.

"Alan Banks and Sabby Gill bring world-class industry experience to the CA EMEA management team," commented Dutton. "I'm delighted to welcome them on board. We're building an EMEA leadership team that brings together the energy and insight of high calibre executives who are choosing to join CA with the significant experience of our "home grown" management talent. It is a formidable combination."

Also announced today are the following new appointments to the CA EMEA management team:

Andrew Lloyd, vice president, security management business unit, EMEA. Lloyd is responsible for CA's Security Management business unit in EMEA. He joined CA as part of the acquisition of Netegrity where he was vice president for Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa. With 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including seven years at the director level within Oracle, he has significant worldwide experience in software solutions sales, marketing and consulting services.

Edward Semerjibashian, vice president, enterprise systems management business unit, EMEA. Semerjibashian heads CA's enterprise systems management business unit, bringing more than 20 years of sales experience to his role. Before joining CA, he was responsible for the management and development of sales and operations in EMEA at Aprisma Management Technologies, which he joined as a founding member in the spin-off from Cabletron Systems in 2000.

Tony Martin, vice president, channels, EMEA. Martin's responsibilities include all business activity conducted through business partners across the EMEA region, including channels, systems integrators and strategic alliance partners. He is also responsible for CA's Customer Interaction Centre near Barcelona, Spain. Martin has worked for CA for more than 20 years, including previous roles as managing director for Holland and Germany as well as his most recent role as area manager for the UK, Ireland and South Africa.

Gilbert Lacroix, previously head of CA's Middle East and Arab States region adds Russia, Central & Eastern Europe, Pakistan and Northern & Central Africa to his responsibilities as area manager, Eastern Markets.

Peter Rasp, previously managing director for Germany, becomes area manager, Central Markets, responsible for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Derek Masters, previously head of CA's France operations, will take interim responsibility for the Southern Markets, covering France, Iberia, Italy and Greece.

Per Kogut, previously responsible for the Nordic region (Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark) adds the Benelux countries and the Baltic States to his new responsibilities as area manager, Northern Markets.

"The market should view these changes as a tuning of our business operations to drive more efficient execution and get closer to our customers, rather than a radical restructuring," commented Dutton. "We have implemented business unit organisation at an EMEA level, we have simplified the geographical groupings and we are strengthening the EMEA management team and the marketing organization.

"The drivers for these changes are simplification, better management, better execution and more accountability both to our customers and partners," continued Dutton.
