Etisalat Academy inaugurates "Broadband & Beyond" Conference

Under the patronage of His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Omran, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Telecommunication Corporation "Etisalat", the Etisalat Academy announced today the opening of the "Broadband & Beyond" Conference to be held at its premises between 14th-15th of November.

The two-day conference will witness the participation of industry leaders from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Palestine, Libya, Afghanistan, USA and the United Arab Emirates as well as number of International operators like Motorola, Lucent Technology, Huawei, Ericsson and Alcatel, and Zhone International who will share their experiences in technologies and services to date.

Speaking on behalf Mohammed Hassan Omran, Nasser bin Obood, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, said:
"This event addresses crucial and vital topics, which faces the telecommunications services. These developments open wide the gates to new addressing novel and renewed axes of requirements, thus serving both for individuals and various business sectors. Consequently, it has become a must for the "service providers" of these technologies to gain sufficient revenues to afford the huge investments required. At the same time, to reduce usage costs in order to make these services available for all so that to achieve the value added expected of such information development ".


He added : " Our aspirations in this conference is not only confined to discussing its listed topics as a strategic industry, rather , the goals transcend to conclude and reach valuable effective recommendations which can actively help all concerned entities in our region, as well as the technical and technological guidelines and recommendations that are useful both service providers and telecommunications manufacturers alike; thus aiming at providing better services at a less cost for all potential subscribers in our region ".

As part of its continuous commitment, being a leading organizations in the Region and Middle East, and to support the UAE community both formal and private sectors, while leveraging and maintaining the remarkable achievements of the UAE, Emirates Telecommunications Corporation-Etisalat, represented in "Etisalat Academy", has arranged this conference - in collaboration with the leading telecom. Manufacturers, major houses of expertise in this field, to discuss all technically related topics including the Next Generation Networks, The Third Generation Mobile services related, WIMAX technology and Frequency Spectrum Management, Bin Obood noted.

On the other hand, Dr. Doaa Fares said: "The Academy's initiative to organize this conference is part of its strategy to draw attention to the latest developments in the field of telecommunication in the world".

He noted that the liberalisation of the telecommunication market has provided unlimited opportunities to the incumbent and new operators worldwide. Focus is shifting to increase revenues while at the same time to reduce expenses. Broadband technologies are one of the major initiatives as they can provide all present and future services on a single platform.

He said: "Our aim is to explain and highlight technical and business issues related to broadband, therefore we are pleased to announce this conference ".

According to Dr. Doaa, various topics will be addressed during the two days conference including the current status of broadband, technologies and services of broadband networks.

The conference will focus on emerging technologies, marketing strategies and the future vision of what lies beyond broadband.
