Univadis.md launches new service

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, November 15 - 2005 at 12:37
  • PRESS RELEASE

Univadis.md, the world's most comprehensive medical online library and research engine for physicians in the UAE, today announced the launch of a new exclusive service called First View in association with Elsevier Science, the world's leading multiple-media publisher of scientific, technical & health information products & services.

The new service will allow physicians access to summaries and commentaries from specialists across Europe on key medical journal articles in their respective specialties, with the purpose of keeping physicians up to date on the latest developments in treatment practices and emerging medical theories. It is hoped that the new service will close the gap between science and practice.

'First View' will offer physicians, on a regular basis, a clinical review of 24 therapeutic areas through a continuous review of prominent medical journals. The service will bring important medical opinion and journal article summaries, thereby providing timely information to assist physicians in gaining a good understanding of the clinical implications of latest practices within the medical industry.

With over 20 articles per month, the First View service is intended to help physicians save time whilst also staying on top of the latest developments in their chosen specialty from a trustworthy, credible source.

The editorial board at First View will scan over 100 journals each month and suggest articles of importance for publication. Following this, an additional independent review team will summarize the article, adding commentary, fully annotated graphs and illustrations where appropriate. This will then be posted on the univadis website, giving users of First View a high quality, timely overview of the important information from recent publications.

In addition, physicians will receive weekly e-mail alerts informing them of the latest articles posted on the website, and online discussion forums will allow physicians to communicate with each other on summaries and commentaries.

"First View will allow physicians within the UAE to stay on top of new developments in their chosen specialty, without having to leave the comfort of their office,"

comments by Nader Abou Chakra, univadis.md, Regional Marketing Coordinator for the Middle East and Africa.

He continues, "First View is a unique offering to the medical community, in that it provides just-in-time and clinically relevant reviews of developments in medical thinking, which will allow physicians across the Middle East and Africa to read new and important information, and to keep abreast of the information overload that faces every physician on a daily basis."
