The new office was recently inaugurated by Ibrahim Al Janahi, Vice President, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza).

The new office of Toshiba Gulf is an imposing new two-storey building measuring 4,000 square metres housing a state-of-the-art product showroom displaying all Toshiba products released in the region. All Toshiba divisions - AV products, Computer Systems, Home Appliances, Electronics and Power - are located at the new facility.

Commenting on the opening, Al Janahi said,

"We are extremely pleased at Toshiba's decision to choose Jafza as its regional headquarters. Jafza's relationship with Toshiba spans over a decade ever since the company established their Middle East footprint through opening an office in Jafza eight years ago. Jafza serves as the undisputed hub for the vast territory of countries in Middle East and Africa. The move by Toshiba is a clear indication of the success of Jafza's service proposition and our competitive and transparent business engagement strategy."

"Japanese companies traditionally have chosen JAFZA as their operations hub for the Middle East. Presently there are over 90 Japanese owned companies operating out of JAFZA including prestigious names such as Bridgestone, Sony, JVC, Kenwood, Hitachi and Honda."

Toshiba Gulf has been witnessing unprecedented growth in the last two years, and the turnover has doubled since the start of 2004. The company has since aggressively expanded to cover the Middle East, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Yasuyoshi Matsunaga, Managing Director, Toshiba Corporation said, "Toshiba has been savouring unprecedented success in the last few years in the Middle East region as the market here is mature in terms of accepting latest technologies. Jebel Ali is a logistics hub for Toshiba as our products manufactured in Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Indonesia are routed through the free zone for regional distribution. The extremely high purchasing power, the growing interest in new products, and increased awareness levels among customers in the region cemented our decision to base our regional headquarters here in Dubai."
